In 1970, Barkatullah University—previously called Bhopal University—was founded in Madhya Pradesh's capital. In honour of the renowned liberation warrior Prof. Barkatullah, a Bhopal native, it was renamed Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya in 1988. The NAAC 2015 has assigned the university an overall grade of "B." 

The pharmacy program's objective is to provide students with the professional skills, knowledge, and talents needed to work in the pharmaceutical industry and give patients the right medications.
