District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Dhubri, was setup in 1995 and is an autonomous institute independently devoted to training teachers. This is a government-aided college situated at Golakganj, Assam and its aim is to build up the future teacher. DIET Dhubri is recognised by National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), which makes it qualify for its programmes to be in line with national qualifications. The institute is spread over a small area of 2.5 acres, but effective learning is facilitated for its 141 admitted students. DIET Dhubri has 6 members in its faculty and therefore, the Institute gets the attention of competent teachers, which directly results in student-teacher ratio in strength.

DIET Dhubri will strive for providing quality education and education facilities in addition to a number of facilities to the student. It features a standard library to ensure that a teacher professional development institute is indeed a pool of knowledge sources. For practice, facilities for educational interventions are offered by general departmental laboratories where students can gain practical experience in teaching. It also comprises a sports-related facility for the enhancement of student health, fitness, and spirit in terms of teamwork.

At present, DIET Dhubri focuses on offering a single, specialised course, known as the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). This is a two-year full-time programme whose objectives are to train students for teaching careers at the elementary level. Being a state-level college, it has a sanctioned intake of 50 students for the D.El.Ed. course and offers complete training in the theories of child development, teaching methodologies, and fashionable thought processes.

DIET Dhubri has laid down certain admission processes in order to be fair and merit-based, especially as per the rules and regulations of the Assam government. Based on performances in the examination taken at the end of the eleventh year called the ‘qualifying’ examination, the students would be selected, and the qualification required is the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent.
