Since 1948, Garhbeta College at Paschim Medinipur, affiliated to the University of West Bengal, has been running several interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate programmes from its campus sprawling over 22.14 acres of land. Enrolled are 4,731 students with a teaching staff of 96 members. The institution ensures a friendly atmosphere for the students themselves. The college offers programmes in 24 courses under 11 degrees. It keeps on the entire commitment towards general quality education and teacher training programmes with approval from the National Council for Teacher Education.

It provides the B.Voc course in Office Management and Secretarial Practice.

The marks obtained at the entrance test and qualifying examinations are taken for the Garhbeta College merit-based admission. The entrance tests generally comprise written tests, sports proficiency tests, and physical fitness tests.
