About Government Ayurveda College, Ernakulam
Government Ayurveda College in Ernakulam was started year 1914 and this college is one the leading institutions in Ayurveda education and research field. Situated in Tripunithura, Ernakulam District, Kerala, this affiliated college resides on an area of 11 acres. The college is recognized by the Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM), which speaks of the quality of the Ayurvedic course. The institution has 58 members consisting of faculties and it has Systems/offer 12 Courses/4 Degree programmes covering all specialisation of the Ayurvedic stream. Based on the college’s continued efforts in conserving and promoting traditional Indian medical wisdom it is one of the many colleges that offer Ayurvedic education in the region.
The Government Ayurveda College encompasses various facilities that play a role of adding value to the course delivery, as well as the general health of the students. It boasts current printed and electronic personal and conference library, books, journals, periodicals, and other publications: Unani, Ayurveda and other programmes related to Indian system of medicine. For practical training, the college has departmental laboratories rich in facilities of present day amenities. Accommodation of students is well provided by the institution separately for boys and girls’ hostels. The boys ‘hostel has 36 numbers of rooms while the girls’ hostel has total 53 numbers of rooms and can accommodate 190 students. It has also sitting facilities including study halls and recreation, mess facilities for the hostels. The college also has a playground and gymnasium and regular sporting facilities to coincide with the general promotion of health among the students. In addition, a canteen is also avails a healthy diet meal, and a health centre is also avail to give first aid at any incident. An open-access modern IT facility fosters use of contemporary learning models; a hall also accommodates different events seminars.
Government Ayurveda College, Ernakulam provides all a course that is related to Ayurvedic medicine. The institution offers 12 full course programmes of which the following are as follows: Undergraduate, post graduate, diploma. The flagship programme is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS); this course has an approved admission capacity of 63 students. At postgraduate level, there are different faculties as ms.Salyatantra, MD kayachikitsa, MD panchakarma, etc, in which there is 4-5 student intake capacity. The college also has its diploma courses offered in more specialized ones such as Manasik Swasthya Vigyan and Netra Rog Vigyan.
