Government College, Karsog, was established in 1994 is at Karsog Tehsil Mandi Dist,Himachal Pradesh. Located on a three acre land, this university provides a wide selection of Bachelors’, Masters’, and Doctorate degree programmes. The college is affiliated with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council thus assuringquality college. Government College, Karsog, has a total student intake of 2222 and faculty strength of 15 so that the institute allows the students who seek higher education in variety of disciplines.

Government College, Karsog, has number of facilities to improve its students’ academic as well as personal development. Comfortably stocked with over 10,000 books and magazine, journal, and newspaper subscriptions, the college is home to a spacious library with seating space of up to 150 students. The institution has well-equipped laboratories for most of the subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology and Geography lab, etc. The modern computer laboratories with 50 computers connected to multimedia aids and facilities complement learning. An independent language lab for speech practice with English language software and hardware facilities consists of 20 computers is provided for language skills development. The college also provides an auditorium that has the sitting capacity of 125-135 persons with having multi media facilities and also Multi Purpose Examination Hall with having the sitting capacity of 150 examinees.

This college offers a total of twenty one courses which are divided into six programmes. The institution offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that are all full-time programmes. The specialisations in the subject offered under the Bachelor of Arts (BA) include Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Economics, History, Sociology, Music Vocal, Political Science, Public Administration, Physical Education and Geography etc. In addition, the college offers B.Com and B.Sc in Mathematics, Life Science and physical sciences. At the postgraduate level the following faculties are offers MA in Hindi, English and Political Science facility.

Therefore, in admission into Government College, Karsog most students are admitted on the bases of merit list despite the available seats. With regard to undergraduate studies, students are offered admissions as per their performance level in the qualifying exam. This college insists that it is not mandatory to get a preferred subject in order to gain admission for that seat depends with merit. And for postgraduate programmes, students are selected based on the the tests they write during the admission, depending on the availability of the number of vacancies for the programme and the policy as per University norms.
