the Government College, Mahidpur, was established in 1969 as a private college in the government middle school building at Kila Road, Mahidpur. After that, on 15 Aug. 1973, it was taken over by the government of Madhya Pradesh, affiliated to vikram university ujjain m.p. Later on, this college was shifted to its present building in 1989. The college was started with the ug classes of arts only and commerce and the PG classes in geography, economics and commerce with ug classes in science faculty since 1984. At the opening, the student strength was approximately 150; in the current session, it is 1341. Our institution is located in a rural area and providing the higher educational facilities to the educationally backward students.

The government college, mahidpur is governed by higher education department of madhya pradesh. it is a ugc recognised college under section 2f & 12 b. it is situated on a top land at bhimakheda village in mehidpur tehsil district ujjain (m.p.). the college has a huge campus of 4.4520 hectares while 9120 sq. mts is the super built up area with 17 rooms including 12 lecture theatres, 2 big halls & 5 laboratories.

Government College Mahidpur offers 5 degree and 7 full-time course programmes. Education for the elimination of gender discrimination from society and other social evils from rural society. Education endowed with purpose and reason to be ideal citizens for modern India.
