Government College of Education, Aurangabad was established in 1954. The premier college is dedicated to teacher education. The co-educational college has been conducting a number of courses approved by the National Council for Teacher Education, NCTE located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The institution is NAAC accredited. Spread over 5.6 acres of campus, the institute runs two specialized courses in education with a total student enrollment of 71. This college follows focused and personalized education with a faculty strength of 5. The college has been in existence for almost seven decades and has become a fulcrum for teacher training in the region. 

Various facilities are offered by the Government College of Education, Aurangabad, to support learning for its students. Government College of Education, Aurangabad offers two regular education courses-B.Ed and M.Ed. The college is also eligible for taking 100 seats under the B.Ed course and 50 seats under the M.Ed course, which sums up to 150 seats under two courses. Mostly, they are to prepare a graduate and to take up their role as an effective teacher and educational leader. The two core programmes-teaching and educational leadership-all draw power from the specialisation of the college, thus making advanced schooling in the field of teaching. 

Admissions to Government College of Education, Aurangabad are merit-based and in pursuance of set policies of the state government, UT administration, and the university. For the B.Ed., admissions are granted to candidates based on the marks scored in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination, if applicable. Similarly, selection for M.Ed is going to be formulated by taking into consideration the candidate's performance in the qualifying exam, entrance exam, or any other selection consideration as may be approved under the respective policies.
