Government Model Residential Polytechnic, Visakhapatnam, was setup in the year 1984 for the welfare of the society and is located in Paderu, Andhra Pradesh. This affiliated college recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), provide better education & accountability in various engineering field. The institute is located at a large area of 50.28 acres and has total enrolment capacity of 230 students and having permanent faculty strength of 14 members. 

The institute has a policy of making sure that it avails the best quality learning environment for it’s the student body. Government Model Residential Polytechnic provides a variety of amenities that have purpose in students’ academic and/or personal development. The central public library offers books, journals, and current electronic sources in various disciplines as a knowledge centre. Modern instruments and equipment in laboratories allow the students to practice in their fields because the laboratories are up to date. The college also gives importance to the students and comfortable hostel accommodation has been arranged for both boys and girls hostels to provide accommodation to those students who prefer living in the college premise. 

Government Model Residential Polytechnic, Visakhapatnam, has a total of three diploma courses out of which all are only full time. The polytechnic offers three diploma courses which take three calendar years to complete and they include Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Civil Engineering.

This is a policy of this Government Model Residential Polytechnic, Visakhapatnam that admission must be taken with equal rights following the admission policy. It is expected that polytechnic institutes use factors including the performance in qualifying examinations, as well as entrance examinations.
