Government Polytechnic, Osmanabad was established in 1985. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE).

The institute was established with a vision to provide quality technical education and has established itself as one of the best polytechnic colleges in Maharashtra. The institute offers 7 diploma programs in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering and Textile Engineering. The duration of these diploma courses is 3 years.

The faculty members are highly skilled and experienced and provide proper training and guidance to the students. There is a dedicated placement cell for organising campus placement drives to provide job opportunities to students.
