Government Polytechnic, Sambalpur was established in the year 2013 and recognised by the Government of Odisha. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). GP Sambalpur is affiliated to the State Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training, Bhubaneswar. GP Sambalpur offers courses at diploma level for students in Engineering stream. GP Sambalpur courses include diploma in Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication and Mechanical Engineering.
