Hilakandi Polytechnic, a new technical institute established in the year 2020, is situated at Katlicherra, Hailakandi, Assam. This affiliated college, which is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), provides diploma courses in different streams of engineering. With a faculty member strength of eighteen, Hilakandi Polytechnic is a technical institution devoted to delivering technical education to the engineers of tomorrow. At present, the institute provides three diploma courses for the duration of three years separately for the various branches of engineering. 

Hilakandi Polytechnic has a number of amenities to enable and enhance students’ learning and development. This is in view of the fact that the college library doubles as a resource centre, enabling the students to access technical text and reference materials. For practical and experiential learning, the Hilakandi Polytechnic owns functional department-wise laboratories. These practical labs help students to apply the theories learnt in and outside the classroom environment, enabling a better understanding of more complicated engineering design principles. Furthermore, the college has well-developed information technology equipment, and the college knows how valuable IT equipment is in today's engineering colleges. This sound IT platform keeps the students in touch with technological developments and prepares them for the technological world. 

At present, the given Polytechnic college offers as many as three full-time diploma regular courses. The institute has an overall approved capacity of 180 students in the three courses offered. There is a laid down intake for each course at 60 students to enhance effective delivery with an appropriate ratio of students per faculty.

The admission of students to Hilakandi Polytechnic is done based on their performance but strictly according to standardised methods. Candidates seeking admission must sit and pass the PAT (Polytechnic Admission Test) conducted by the State Council for Technical Education, Assam.
