Institute of Advanced Study in Education, Saidapet (IASE) is a self financing institution situated in Chennai, Tamilnadu. The institute was started in 1856 and it has seen many years of education service and development with more than 165 years of service. NAAC has accredited the institute and the NCTE has also approved it. Located in a 48  acres plot, IASE provides four courses in education out of which the total admitted students is 372. The institute has 15 faculty members all committed to the teaching profession with adequate student enrollment that allows for proper student teacher ratio.

IASE has excellent facility for its academics and research activities. There is a fully automated library with barcoding technology and has adopted an open access to its collection. It has a large stock of books, encyclopaedias, periodical, CDs, theses, journals, and newspapers across different fields of study. It has equally good IT for facility for the students computerised laboratory familiarization and elaborated sports facilities for complete student development. The availability of Wi-Fi connection on the campus, a hall for holding events, seminars and a cafeteria help for the improvement of learning process. There is also provision for access to first aid in case of emergencies and the campus is equipped with sports and workout facilities a gym. While for those students who come from other towns, the college has provided for different hostels.

The institute has four full time courses in Education out of which two are for postgraduate, one for doctorate and one for the undergraduate level. They are a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Master of Education (M.ED), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Education and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Education. The B.Ed programme which is the basic programme of teacher education has an approved intake capacity of one hundred seats. 

IASE University has maintained the policy of merit-based admissions which is regulated according to the state government, UT administration, and universities policy. For the B.Ed programme, the admission is strictly merit basis, the marks scored in the qualifying examination entrance test if any.
