JIET was started in the year 1996, recognised by AICTE New Delhi and affiliated to BPUT, Odisha and situated at Jagatpur Industrial Estate, Cuttack Odisha. This affiliated college, which is located in a 10.03 acre area, impart fine education in the field of engineering to students. As of now JIET has 94 students in its premises and 24 professionals work as faculties in the campus.

JIET has been furnished with a variety of facilities that necessarily complement the overall learning as well as the growth of the students. The institute has modern laboratories to provide practical knowledge to various departments of the institute. A hi-tech library has been established which includes books, national and International journals, textbooks having references, online resources such as Science Direct and IEEE e-journals. There is availability of Wi-Fi on the campus hence students can easily access the online learning forums. To maintain and improve the health of students, JIET has all facilities of games like cricket, football, hockey, volley ball, indoor games, gymnasium etc. They also have different hostels for the boys and girls from out station to provide the comfort staying.

Academic concern of the Jagannath Institute of Engineering and Technology is structure in such a way that it holds integrated engineering programme. The institute offers two full-time B.Tech programmes.These are Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. They are both four-year programmes aimed at giving the students perfect knowledge of the respective fields and perfect practical skills.
