Kerala Academy of Pharmacy Thiruvananthapuram is an affiliated college in situated at Kandala Pirayarkuth, Near Kattakada, in the colourful city of Trivandrum in Kerala. Initially started with the intention of imparting quality education in the field of pharmacy the institute has been growing in the field of pharmacy. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi has given its approval to the college which simply means that the college follows the set national standards in the provision of Technical Education. Currently, the academy has a faculty of 30 dedicated professional to foster the growth of the next generation of pharmacists.

The institute has some core infrastructural necessities which are required for a proper learning experience in pharmacy. The college library stands as an information centre to extend pharmaceutical literature and other related research material to the students. Also, established in the academy are well equipped departmental laboratory for practical experience in different aspects in pharmaceutical sciences. These facilities are important in addressing the gap of transference of learning between classroom and the actual world pharma occupations, to ready the student to confront these conditions afloat.

The Kerala Academy of Pharmacy at present only conducts the D.Pharma and B.Pharma – which is a four year full-time course programme. The general intake of the programme according to the government is one hundred students per year, which shows the institute’s ability to admit many students with the intention of becoming pharmacists. This course mainly aims at giving students a background knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences that comprises of aspects like medicinal chemistry, pharmacology pharmaceutics, and pharmacognosy. To train the students it is likely that the curriculum comprises both theoretical and practical teaching and practical exposure to industries.

According to the admission procedure prevalent for the pharmacy colleges in the southern Indian state of Kerala, Kerala Academy of Pharmacy also has largely requisite admission processes. It is outlined that the candidates have to complete their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry and Biology Mathematics as the mandatory subjects.
