KIMS College of Nursing, Thiruvananthapuram, which was established in the year 2006, is one of the most sought after nursing college in Kerala state of southern part of India. This affiliated college is located at Chempakamangalam, Korani P.O; the college has been approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) that gives quality education to its students. This college facilities have a 3-acre college campus and it also provides a number of nursing courses. KIMS college of Nursing is a prestigious institution that has honoured the professional dreams of 287 students including a faculty of 37 members. The institution provides 5 courses at 3 degree levels within the spectrum of nursing education.
Much emphasis is placed on maintaining quality learning environments in order to cater for the students needs. The accumulated collection of books exceed 5000 and journals stands tall at 100, backed with internet service to support learning needs. In this vein, KIMS College of Nursing has well equipped practical facilities like state of the art laboratories, amongst which is a laboratory specifically for the nursing students known as the skill lab. These are complemented by access to modern laboratory services in KIMS hospital to further expand the capacity of testing the students. The college also understands that students own their health and provides a health centre that deals with first aid. Female students who want to stay in the institution are offered hostel facilities; first year student are in a separate hostel. The transport facilities are available for both students and staffs; there are transportation facilities in and around the campus. As part of promoting social interaction among the learners and further connecting them to the society, the college has a vibrant alumni association.
KIMS College of Nursing follows various educational programmes to meet the needs of the nursing aspirants. The institution offers five full-time programmes – undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree. B.Sc Nursing has 90 intake capacity and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing has 20 intake capacity at the undergraduate level. In terms of post graduate level, there are M.Sc Medical Surgical Nursing 10 and Psychiatric Nursing 05 seats available. The college also provides a PhD course in nursing for those students who want to devote themselves to research work.
