Kumadvathi College of Education, located at Shikaripura, started its operation in 1996 and is one of the most noted teacher training institutions in Shivamogga, Karnataka. This co-educational college affiliated with the university system gained much recognition for promoting quality education as validated by NAAC accreditation. Approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the college is following the overall standards in teacher education of India. Kumadvathi College of Education is set on a campus of 4.24 acres so students can focus on education in Teaching area of specialization.

Kumadvathi College of Education has numerous facilities that seek to support the educational process of the learners. The library with over 12789 books also caters for the textbooks, reference books and journal on education and other related fields. They equally utilise e-resources through N-LIST consortium. The college has well equipped laboratory for Psychology, Educational Technology and Science which are part of practical laboratory. For physical health, there are varieties of athletic amenities such as cricket ground basketball, volleyball and gymnasium present in the institution. The campus also provides accommodation facilities in two different hostels one for the boys and other for the girls to provide accommodation for out-station students comfortably.

Established in 1996, Kumadvathi College of Education is dedicated exclusively to the teacher education and has only one course under its umbrella the B.Ed. course.  The B.Ed programme is thus meant to prepare the students to be accomplished teachers in any area of their specialisation. 

The admission process for the B.Ed programme at Kumadvathi College of Education will be route through merit and as per rules and regulation that can imposed by the affiliated university and NCTE. The candidate is expected to possess a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of study as one of the requirements. The institute still has a Training and Placement Cell to support students once they are ready to seek employment on completion of their course.
