The College was established in the year 1997 and is located at Bhokat, Makum Junction, Tinsukia, Assam. Throughout these years, Makum College has been providing quality education in the Art stream, including a wide range of undergraduate programmes. The college operates within a 6-acre campus that accommodates a total of 532 students along with 24 facilitators of knowledge in various domains. Engaging in a conducive teaching-learning environment, the college prepares a strong foundation for college studies. The college currently has 4 honours courses all part of the Bachelor of Arts stream and the honours bestowed are in Assamese, Education, and Political Science the college also provides a general course in Bachelor of Arts. 

The college has many facilities that the augment their academic activities and all facilities together provide life for the students in the college. The most prominent of them is the library. Programmes Offered The Academic programmes at Makum College are based on the Bachelor of Arts; all four available courses are mainstream, full time, and three years degrees, Under the BA degree, one can specialise in BA Assamese Major, BA Education Major, and BA Political Science Major or in an BA. This focused nature of the offering allows the students and also focuses on students through a grounding in the liberal arts.
