Yes, attendance is compulsory. All students must have a  minimum of 85 per cent attendance in every course to qualify to write the End Semester Examinations. The students whose attendance falls between 75 per cent and 85 per cent because of participating in co-curricular and extracurricular or NCC/NSS/ sports activities are given permission. The students between 75 per cent and 85 per cent of attendance due to long-term illness or hospitalization of ten days and above are also permitted but 50 per cent below attendance in any course in the semester will have to re-register and repeat the course requirements after their final semester.

Admission to the College programmes does not mandatorily guarantee admission to the college hostel. The following are the hostels available Our Lady's Hostel, St. Joseph's Hostel, Nava Nirmana Hostel, Klemens Hostel, Snehalaya Hostel, and Assisi Hostel.

Stella Maris College is an autonomous college and sets small rules for the student to follow. The students are expected to dress simply and modestly. The college students must compulsorily wear a saree, salwar kameez, or jeans and a kurta while on campus. Sleeveless attire is not permitted. Students are required to follow the College dress code on campus from 7.00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
