MES RN Shetty Polytechnic, Sirsi, is one of the pioneers in technical education situated in the lap of Uttara Kannada, Karnataka, started in the year 1983. This affiliated college recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has been preparing students who want to be engineers for almost four decades. It is situated in Vidya Nagar, Sirsi, and has launched its programmes and diplomas catering to the growing needs of the industry. To make certain of this, the polytechnic has a committed cadre of 21 members of the teaching staff, allowing a most fruitful enrolment ratio. 

The campus contains eight modern computer laboratories, stocked with 48 computers interfaced by LAN with free internet connection, so that students constantly get acquainted with new technologies. It acts as an information centre, with book stock, title count, and journal availability covering most of the programmes offered. Purpose-built teaching and research laboratories are available for practical study at the institute, according to department. The college also largely focuses on students’ welfare and has availability of hostels for boys and girls. The girls’ hostel building is also situated within a convenient distance from the college campus and can house 150 students. Elements of modern architectural technologies, such as solar water heating systems and arrangements of inside games, are also available in girls’ hostel buildings.

MES RN Shetty Polytechnic has 5 full-time diploma courses, all of which take 3 years to complete. These are Diploma in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering, and Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
