The Nehru College of Education, Puducherry, was founded in 2005 at Villianur, Puducherry, and is a popular Teacher Training College. This co-educational institute enjoys the status of being affiliated with Pondicherry University and prepares future educators. Recognised by NCTE and functioning in a consolidated 1.5 area, it has been approved by the government of Delhi. For instance, Nehru College of Education caters to a student population of two hundred and ninety-five and a faculty of sixteen, which translates into a consolidated and personal learner-teacher ratio. As far as the curriculum is concerned, Nehru College of Education offers only one course, the B.Ed, which is a two-year full-time programme. The programme has the working capacity for the intake of one hundred students, which shows that the programme can train a large potential educator workforce. This specialisation gives the institution abilities to coordinate resources and efforts in providing quality teacher education.
