About Our Lady of Health School and College of Nursing, Thanjavur

Our Lady of Health School and College of Nursing one of the well-known institutions in the field of nursing education Situated in Thanjavur district of the Tamil Nadu state was started in the year 2008. This co-educational institute, located in a 2.89 acre of area is an affiliated college having approval from Indian Nursing Council (INC). At present, the college takes 360 students and 8 faculty members and provides a broad spectrum of nursing courses. Six of these courses are offered in three degrees that the institute offers, and it focuses mainly on delivering courses in aspects of nursing education. because of its perceived commitment to quality education offered to the nursing training institutions in its region of operation it is indeed worthy of attention to those nursing students in the nursing profession.

Its amenities are numerous and are aimed at complementing the college learning environment as well as personal development of learners. The knowledge centre is a fully equipped library, practical training in departmental laboratory is all essential in nursing education. It also comprises of different hostel with different hostel section for boys and girls in order to provide adequate house for the resident students. Auditorium inclusive of numerous events and seminars, creates an academic environment. 

It also has a student health center that will be in charge of first aid for any students professing illness. This makes the students have recreational facilities to engage in for body exercises since sports facilities are provided for all students. This campus has facilities that will enable information technology applications to support current and advanced learning facility. A cafeteria serves foods for all personnel and students and a guest house for all the visiting professors and family of students.

Our Lady of Health School and College of Nursing has presented various nursing courses to provide health care for different education level. The institute offers 8 full-time courses offering under graduation, post graduation and diploma level programs. At undergraduate level the college is offering B.Sc Nursing with 40 seats and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing with 30 seats. There are few courses of diploma for those who interested to join in GNM has total seats 20 . The college also has few restricted intake M.Sc Nursing specilisations which are Medical Surgical Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Obstetrics & Gynecological Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing. The proposed number of sponsor intake seat for all the courses sums up to 107 approved, that show us that the institute is keen to offer quality education and hence controls the number of students intake it allows in each class.

This nursing college is affiliated to the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and provides undergraduate and postgraduate level programs and diploma courses in nursing.  The selection of candidates into nursing programs at Our Lady of Health School and College of Nursing will be on the basis of merit as well as dedication and talent among students, merit consideration usually is based on the results in relevant subjects and entrance examinations and may at times involve interviews or aptitude tests among the nursing institutions.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Sc Nursing: The college offers a 4-year B.Sc Nursing program with an approved intake of 40 seats. The selection process is likely to be based on 10+2 results focusing on the science subjects, especially Biology.

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: This program has an approved intake of 30 seats. Typically this course is for registered nurses who wish to elevate their qualifications. Candidates with a diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) are usually eligible for application.

GNM(General Nursing and Midwifery): The college has a diploma program in GNM with an intake of 20 seats. This program is applicable for candidates who have finished their 10+2 education and want to pursue a career in nursing.

M.Sc Nursing: The college gives admission in M.Sc Nursing in various specializations with limited seats:

  • M.Sc Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing (5 seats)
