Santosh College of Teachers Training and Education, Ranchi, was established in 2008. It is a co-educational institution providing future teachers. This affiliated college is situated in Old Hulhundu, Balsiring Road, Tupudana, Ranchi covering a 2.5 acres area. The institute holds membership with the National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India and is also recognised and affiliated by the National Council of Teacher Education, so as to provide quality education for the field of teaching. At present, the college has seventy seven students and thirty one faculty members implying an excellent student- teacher ratio that allows for individual attention and mentoring.

Santosh College of Teachers Training and Education has several facilities that are intended to help improve achievement of desired learning outcomes for the students. A library with prefect collection of books and other study materials is available to expand student’s knowledge. Another option is a gym and the sports facilities for those individuals who like sports and fitness trends. Internet and computer facilities are well developed in the campus to support students’ learning and make sure students can access information on line. An auditorium helps support functions and seminars, and the cafeteria area offers a student lounge for relaxation and meetings. The college also has a health centre which includes the first aid facilities with a view of offeringa sound health to the students. These are psychology, science, and mathematics laboratories, since teaching practical lessons requires exposure to real settings so that potential teachers can prepare adequately to take their students through standardised procedures.

There are two full time courses offered at the Santosh College of Teachers Training and Education. The B.Ed and D.El.Ed programmes provide the formal education needed for a successful carrier in teaching profession. Each of these two courses takes two academic years to complete and has been approved to admit 100 students for all courses adding up to 200 admitted students in all courses. These programmes are expected to provide the students with what they need to know and the skills they need to enable them effectively perform in the education sector.

Students seeking admission to all courses at Santosh College of Teachers Training and Education are offered on merit basis depending on their performance in the qualifying examination and/or entrance test. It is important to note that, the college operates in conformity to the admission policies provided by the state government of Jharkhand and the affiliated university. The candidates admission to the B.Ed programme is done depending on their score in the qualifying examination or through any other rules as per the state government or UT administration norms. In the same way, admissions to the D.El.Ed programme are done by merit in the qualifying examination or by an entrance test as conducted by the state Government.
