Saraswati Mahavidyalaya, Surguja, is a college that was established in 2008 and is situated in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. This is a co-educational institute located on a two-acre land and is famous for its quality teacher education. It has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and also recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). It’s a small college for education with a total intake capacity of 197 students and 7 faculties. 

Affiliated University: Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya (formerly Sarguja University), Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. Saraswati Mahavidyalaya has various resources which are available to improve the learning environment of the intended students. The library is filled with books on different topics, so students are free to borrow materials for a period of 15 days. Sports enthusiasts and players can fully benefit from a college that has capacity in the areas of cricket, badminton, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, athletics, carrom and chess both indoors and outdoors. It also hosts Annual Sports Day and takes part in state and university competitions in the course of the year. 

For academic-related purposes, the college offers departmental laboratories together with good Information Technology support. This is achieved by the provision of Student welfare by having a health centre for first aid and a canteen to meet staff and students’ food requirements. The college also has an event and seminar venue, a multi-purpose hall, a dining hall, private rooms for guest faculty and visitors, and living quarters for faculty and student families. 

Concerning the teaching programmes provided, Saraswati Mahavidyalaya, Surguja, is mainly a teacher training college. At present, one main course is offered at the college, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme, which is a full-time programme that spans two years. This programme has an approved admission capacity of 100 students and is a clear testimony of the institution’s commitment towards producing qualified educators for this part of the world.
