Shaheed Udham Singh College of Education is affiliated college situated in Mehlan, Sangrur District of Punjab was started in the year 2005. The institution, recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) offers teacher education programmes. It is located at 6-acre campus and total number of education is co-educational in nature with a total number of 458 students. It has 25 faculty members, and offers three different degree programmes in education. The college is specifically working in the context of the development of the educators of the future which is why it has specialised courses like B.Ed, M.A Education, D.El.Ed etc for the different requirements of the field.

Shaheed Udham Singh College of Education strives to promote effective academic learning environment and offers a number of amenities for students’ use. In Shaheed Udham Singh College of Education, there are three courses in all and all these courses are full time, which prepares students to face education field only. The flagship course is the B.Ed programme , which out of 100 approved intakes, the college has to fill. For students wishing to go further in their studies to be educated, the college has an M.A. Education programme with 25 intakes. Also featured in the institute is the D.El.Ed, a course crafted for the students aspiring to become teachers of elementary classes, has an intake capacity of 50 students. All in all, the college offers 175 seats in various courses, which will help to cultivate qualified teachers for the region.

The admission criteria at Shaheed Udham Singh College of Education are entirely based on the marks scored in the qualifying examination and/or entrance tests as per the norms of state government and the University to which the college, affiliated is. Admissions to B.Ed and D.El.Ed programme offered are done in accordance to Punjab government and university norms, which are through various entrance tests, and merit list of the qualifying examination, wherever applicable.
