Shahid Durwasa Nishad Government College, Arjunda was started in the year 1988 and is an affiliated college located at Balod, Chhattisgarh. This government institution is an extensive 13-acres offering a wide choice of education programmes for 1303 students. This college was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) which is a proof of it’s quality college. At present, the NCUI institute has 16 dedicated members of the faculty wherein it offer 9 courses in six degree programmes: art, commerce and science streams. 

Shahid Durwasa Nishad Government College boasts of having available several facilities that may complement the learning process a student undergoes. This is a resource centre which contains a current stock of books, journals and magazines among others. Exam papers can be helpful to students especially previous year question papers in preparing for exams. These laboratories are very well equipped with all essential facilities ad are departmental to help the students get practical knowledge. On the same note, communication, transportation, and efficient information dissemination system are other aspects that need to be considered. The college’s IT department is also one of the best so that the students can become conversant with the new up to date technology. Sporting enthusiasts can therefore have both indoor and outdoor sporting activities since the campus is well endowed. Crickets, badminton, volley ball, kabaddi, kho-kho, and athletic competitions are available for students In addition, their respective sports officer offers training to the students. Carom and chess indoor games are also played. First aid facilities in a health centre are important in promoting the welfare of the college populace. 

Shahid Durwasa Nishad Government College has a total of nine different courses, which are all full time- M.Com and B.Com etc. These include first degrees, postgraduate degrees for student with varying academic specialisations. The total admission capacity for the different courses in the college is 1303 which can accommodate higher education in the region. Although published graduation data for the current year is missing, there is expectations that the college has provided quality education to the graduates. 

The admission procedure adopted at the Shahid Durwasa Nishad Government College is more of a simplified one. For all the undergraduate Courses like BA, B.Sc and B.Com students are required to have passed their 10+2 examination from a recognised Board.
