Currently the college has 168 students, 16 faculties which makes appropriate environment for students who want to become teachers.

SMR College of Education offers mainly its B.Ed program which is a two year full time course. The idea of this program is simple – to prepare students with the qualities and knowledge that would qualify them as educators. The college has been approved for having 100 seats for B.Ed programme only in order to maintain good student-teacher ratio and quality education. Although there is only one course at the college, it covers all aspects of teacher training and offers detailed preparation for the profession’s modern realities. At the moment the college is offering only one program of study, that is the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme for which the college has been given a precoscional capacity to admit one hundred students each year.

The admission process at SMR College of Education includes merit with reference to the marks in the qualifying examination and/or in the entrance test.
