Smt AKD Sakkaniammal College of Education for Women is located in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu and was founded in the year 2006, and this college is specifically focussed on educations of women in India. An affiliated college is found at 160/3, Shenbaga Thoppu Road, Rajapalaiyam and it has a total extent of 5.04 acres. NCTE recognized institute provides only one programme at under graduate level under Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). This means the college takes 162 students at a time and has a faculty of 8 which makes it ensure that the primary mandate of training teachers is accomplished adequately.

Hence, the college has the following learning amenities that are aimed at improving the study experience of the learners. This library alone has more than 4,000 books, 20 periodicals and numerous journals that greatly covers its academic needs. A sample of physical science includes college laboratory while a sample of biological studies includes college laboratory sample: Physical Science : Km 1 Biological: Km 2 Computer laboratory equipped with internet connection helps students to be update technologically. For the health’s sake, there is a large playground of about 2 acres that is equipped with Kho-Kho and Volleyball courts and controlled by a Physical Education Director.

Smt AKD Sakkaniammal College of Education for Women currently trains its students in only one course, which is the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). This course is a full-time course that takes two years and the approved cohort size was 100 students. This study aims to reveal the current state of B.Ed programme as the programme is intended to produce professional teachers with appropriate knowledge and skills. 

There are different hostel facilities available for students, out of which there is girls’ hostel facility available in the college which offer safe and comfortable accommodation for the out-station students. Other facilities include a cafeteria, a dispensary with first aid services, a faculty and guest house for faculty’s relatives and visiting faculty, and a hall for holds seminars, meetings and other formal occasions. These facilities in conjunction with the programming offered in a college prepare an environment that caters for aspiring women teachers.
