Smt Premalatai Chavan Polytechnic Karad, is one of the leading diploma institutions in the state of Maharashtra. The college was established in the year 1984 with two diploma courses - Architecture Assistantship and Electrical Engineering. The college is affiliated to Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. Smt Premalatai Chavan Polytechnic, Karad is set up in an area of 6000 sq mts. The college also owns 10 acres of land of 10 acres for development at Wagheri. Apart from the academic front, the campus also has arrangements for extra curricular activities related to art & culture activities like singing, painting, debating, quiz, essay writing, elocution competition celebration of anniversaries of great personalities etc.

Talking about the infrastructure of the institute, the college has separate hostels for boys and girls. Furthermore, the college has fully functional workshops and laboratories for imparting practical knowledge to students. The institute also has a library that has 8,000 books including reference books, textbooks, journals, manuals. The library of the college is aided by a Book Bank facility where students can borrow four books for a year.
