St. Mary’s College of Education is a premier college which started in the year 2004 located at Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, India exclusive to the training of teachers. This co-educational college is set up at Seydunganallur and as an affiliated college hence it has got approval from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college has a five and thirty-eight bore campus and enrolled 55 students currently and 12 faculty members. St. Mary’s targets and specialises in delivering education with its B.Ed programme that produces teacher training professionals for the future.

St. Mary’s College of Education also aims at offering an all-round learning facility to the students that attend the college. School has a fully equipped library for all segments of the school and has a collection of 5210 books and has 164 reference books and 16 journals. This campus has various teaching laboratories which include a Physical Science Lab well endowed with modern instruments, and a Psychology Lab with different assessment tools. The Education Technology Lab is air conditioned and covers 102 square meters; the lab is fitted with the latest sound and vision systems, which include a home theatre. The college recruits teachers who wish to assess the use of technology in their teaching activity the college provides a computerised laboratory with computers linked to the internet facilities.

St. Mary’s College of Education has only the B.Ed programme exclusively for prospective teacher/trainers with a total intake of fifty students. This is a two-year full-time course intended at offering comprehensive preparation in theoretical and practical aspects of education. The curriculum of the programme will teach students everything they need for teaching in today’s classroom as per the requirement. 

The admission process of St. Marys College of Education is based on the marks of the qualifying and/or entrance test. The college is governed by the policies of the state government, Union Territory administration and the university, to which it is affiliated.
