St. Xavier’s College, Vaikom is an affiliated college of the University of Kottayam established in 1981. This prestigious university, situated in an 18 acres land is duly certified by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). As on the date of submitting this data St. Xavier’s is having 599 students strength and 30 faculties, so 8 courses in 4 degree programmes. The college student population is almost equally divided with female students comprising 64% while the male students 36%. It offers under graduate courses and post graduate courses as well, where the high percentage of students are the Under graduate students that is about 95 percent while the Post graduate students are of about 5 percent. Most of the college students are state students since the college admission rate is almost 100 % for students in the state.

Currently, St. Xavier’s College enjoys basic infrastructure that supports improvement of teaching and learning environment for all students. The college library means a good store of books and other materials as well as computerised automation, free access facilities and reprographic facilities. Regarding practical teaching and learning, the college offers departmental laboratories in all departments. A large assembly hall, which accommodates 400 students, for cultural activities or debates and other events is located alongside the campus. It has and affordable canteen where students can purchase meals and the multi gym facility to make them fit. The college also has developed as well as equipped modern computerised IT facilities and internet connection for each lab to enable the students to be in touch with latest technologies.

It provide  8 programmes offered in the institution, there are both undergraduate and postgraduate classes. They mainly offer undergraduate programmes in areas like Commerce, Science and Arts, and post graduate programme offered is in Commerce- BA Political Science , B.Com and M.Com etc. All the courses are full time, regular courses.
