Man is dependent on plants for fresh air, food, fiber, medicine, building materials, and a safe environment. The student of botany will be able to help in sustainable options for the safeguard of the environment by exploring the intricacies of life forms at the cellular, molecular and nano level. The Master of Science in Botany covers the full range of plant science from regulation of gene expression through cell biology and developmental and hormonal plant biology to the production of enhanced crops for sustainable agriculture. The focus will be on the aspects of comparative genomics, epigenetic & chromatin structure, cell walls & the plant cell secretory pathway, stress responses and crop science including nematode-resistant crops.
Admissions are done on the basis of Skill Assessment, Academic Performance, and Personal interview.
- A candidate who has passed any Undergraduate degree examination with 50 % aggregate marks and 50% of marks in the cognate subject (Chemistry) from any recognized University in India or abroad recognized by UGC / AIU are eligible to apply.
- Applicants who are in the final year of their studies should have secured 50% or above aggregate in all the Semesters / Years of Undergraduate Examinations conducted so far and 50% of marks in the cognate subject. Students writing their final degree examinations is also eligible to apply
