Gujarat University (GU) was established in 1949. The university is located in the state of Gujarat. It is a government-owned co-ed university. Gujarat University Ahmedabad has been approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has been accredited by NAAC. The total student population of the university is more than 3000 and the total number of faculty members is more than 100. In NIRF 2021 Ranking, Gujarat University has been ranked 62nd in the overall category. In the university category, it has been ranked 43 in the NIRF ranking 2021 whereas in the year 2020 it was ranked 44 in the same category.

Gujarat University admissions are offered to 77 courses. The university offers admissions to courses at multiple levels. These are the UG, PG and post-PG levels. Gujarat University Ahmedabad admission to the UG courses is offered on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination. Admission to the post PG courses also includes a group discussion and personal interview conducted by the university.
