You can get admission in B.Tech CSE, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar if your CRL All India rank in JEE Mains is up to 150000 according to 2018 cut-offs for the general category. But you still have a chance as these cutoffs change every year. Don't miss the counselling, you might get CSE in the last round.

see there is two type of mca courses.

1, mca course for 3 years - eligibility criteria is candidate need to have a graduate degree in any stream  with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Sciencesor Computer Applications or IT Computer Maintenance or Quantitative Techniques as one of the elective subjects with 50% marks in aggregate (general category),  45% for SC/ST, in aggregate with mathematics as a elective subject on 10+2 course. admission is done on the basis of merit score in entrance test conducts by the university.

2. 5 years integrated mca course : candidate need to pass 10+2 course from  a recognized education board with 50% marks in aggregate (general category), 45% marks for sc/st in aggregate.admission is done on the basis of merit score in entrance test conducts by the university.

in general on the month of may, the application form releases.

Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) offers MCA course for which a candidate must have done graduation with at least 50% pf marks to be eligible for appearing in GNDU entrance test based on which admission is done.
Final Selection of candidates is based on Entrance test score.

You can go with any of them as you wanted to go either directly in guru Nanak or with CAT exam.

If you don't want to attempt any of the examination and get direct admission in the college then go for GNDU.
The college is on of the top rated colleges and has good facilities and education for students.
But here you should be cooperative as it is not a well cooperating college.

But if you have a confidence and a trust that you can score best you can do hardwork then it will be 1000 times better to attempt CAT examination and get admission in colleges.

CAT is a national level entrance exams which only entertain students who are serious about there career. Once you score best rank in cat you will be selected for IIMs.

If you are comparing taking Admission directly and via CAT exam then obviously cat exam gives you more career opportunities and provides you quality education.
