84 MonthsIntegrated Ph.D. Programme is a research programme. At the end of the successful completion, Master of Science and Ph.D. degree are awarded. The MS-Ph.D Programme has a minimum duration of 5 years and a maximum of 7 years.
The first three semesters will consist of core and elective courses specialized in one subject. The fourth semester will consist of advanced courses and project work. After the successful completion of comprehensive and project work, the student will continue with research leading to the Ph.D. degree. This program identifies talented students at an early stage and brings them into the research fold.
Besides research, the scholars are involved in several activities such as helping the faculty as teaching assistants in theory courses and laboratory sessions. PhD students are also expected to participate actively in seminars, journal clubs, workshops, etc. There is considerable interaction amongst students at different levels and PhD students contribute significantly to mentoring fifth year MS students in research laboratories.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant should have a Bachelor’s degree in science and related areas with a good academic record (at least 60% aggregate or at least CGPI 6.0 on a scale of 10).
Additional Qualifications: Applicants who have obtained one of the following national-level qualifying examinations are advised to mention the same in their application form:
- NBHM Masters or PhD scholarship for Mathematics
- Rank in JEST examination for Physics
- DST INSPIRE fellowship or KVPY scholarship
- Rank in IIT JAM for the chosen specialisation
- Rank in GATE.
Admission Details
Candidates are shortlisted for an interview round based on the application forms, eligibility criteria and required exam scores set by the authority. Admission to the programme is offered based on the performance of the candidate in the interview round conducted by the selection committee.
