The M. A. Programme in Development Studies is a multi-disciplinary programme and was initiated in the year 2009. The programme is designed to provide an understanding of various perspectives of development issues, through rigorous course works and guided research. The perspectives are drawn from different disciplines of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
Admission to the 2-year M.A.(Development Studies) programme is held once a year - in July. IIT Guwahati conducts the selection process (written test and interview) for admission to M.A.(Development Studies).
A Bachelor’s (10+2+3) degree (Major/Honours) or equivalent from a recognized University, in any discipline, with a minimum of either 50% marks or 5.0 CPI in a 10-point scale (a minimum of either 45% marks or 4.5 CPI in a 10-point scale for SC/ST/PwD candidates) in major/honours only. OR,
Candidates not having Major/Honours courses must have the concerned degree with a minimum either 50% aggregate marks or 5.0 CPI in a 10-point scale (a minimum of either 45% aggregate marks or 4.5 CPI in a 10-point scale for SC/ST/PwD category candidates).
