24 MonthsMaster of Design(M.Des) in Electronic Product Design is two years (4 Semester) full-time postgraduate program offered by the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. The Department of Design(DoD), one of the thirteen departments at IIT Guwahati, was set up with a vision to enkindle some of the brightest technical minds of the country a passion for innovation in technology driven by a firm understanding, appreciation, and celebration of design. The department offers an M.Des. degree (the only undergraduate level degree of its kind in an Indian Institute of Technology) and a Ph.D. degree in Design. The focus of the program is on the study, invention, and creative use of technologies to create effective, usable, enjoyable experiences with technology through interdisciplinary research in engineering, design, behavioral and social sciences, and to understand the impact of technology on individuals, groups, and organizations. The department envisions to produce successful graduates who will be capable of leading the changing scenarios of today and tomorrow through thought, innovation, and values.
Eligibility Criteria
A candidate must have Minimum CPI of 6.0 or 55% of marks in the qualifying degree/diploma as indicated below:
- All regular category candidates (except those having BTech/BDes degrees from an IIT with a minimum CPI of 7.0) must possess a valid score of all India Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED). For eligibility for financial assistance for regular category candidates, please see the section “Financial Support” below.
- Minimum experience required for Sponsored (Full-time), Self-Financed, and Part-Time categories of candidates, have been indicated below.
- 4-year Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in Design, Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or a Design related field.
- 4-year Professional Diploma in Design of NID or Professional Diploma of CEPT (5-year programme)
Admission Details
A student applying for postgraduate (M.Des) program should qualify the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) conducted by IITs as a part of their central admission procedure. They are further shortlisted through apptitude test and further on through a personal interview session.
