Millions of Opportunity

IIT Madras is a place filled with ample amount of opportunities. The infrastructure is one the best among government colleges. The freedom given here is the best part. But it is not soon you will realize that freedom comes with responsibility. Too much of freedom sometimes spoils us. There is always a tendency you develop here of "Putting too much effort towards the end (Last night pains before exams)". The famous saying of "Once you come to IIT , your life is settled" is the biggest lie you can hear. Of course it is true for people who use the various opportunities here. I am one of the persons who wasted these chances to groom myself during my initial year. Speaking of infrastructure and facilities I feel IITM provides much more than satisfactory levels. There are few professors like from structural engineering department who are really good at inspiring young students towards pursuing a career in core.

Best minds and good education are always a treat to life

Beginning with the entrance which always matters. Wonderful .Nature. Serene.Beautiful. I'm having so many adjectives which itself might suffice for the whole review. Lush green approach to the main point of the campus which is the Gajendra circle. Lazy engineers hence call it GC. Branching off to two sides from there. One to the academic section. Other to the hostels , library, departmental stores etc. Infrastructure wise I would not say that it is a aww to the eyes but yes.. You will definitely llike it no matter what. Simple and beautiful.Well the mess building doesn;t look like one. Atleast when I first stepped in here I thought of it as some fun place or basically a shopping centre. Blew my mind the next day as people were calling it a mess. Hostels have a good functional design . Leave apart the tower hostels. They can be called a nightmare come to life. The older hostels compensate for that. Department buildings are simple. Not much to talk about it. CRC being the class room complex has again a good functional design. The ground floor classrooms are uncomparable. Well no wonder students sleep in the morning 8am classes. Or rather they sleep always because it has something called AC which we very dearly miss in the hostels. Facilities are available in plenty. Whatever isn't inside is gettable just with a step outside the campus. No complaints about food centers which matters the most in a college student's life. Also matters to the moms more than us. They never change. Canteen available 24*7 also for those insomniacs who prefer gossip over a chai to tea over sleep . Well memories are created . Hence no complaints :) . Movies can be downloaded thorugh the intra hostel network. One of our lifelines here. You know what I mean. Mostly at the times of poor internet crisis. Gurunath stores. Well they are life savers. Got everything. If it's someone whom students owe a real treat to it is them. Remember the time during floods. They provided items for free. I mean pay later ( nothing comes for free ). Academics - Well I'm not the right person to talk about this. But nevermind .. maggus are busy studying. To be frank , the huge praises I had heard outside insti an what i'm experiencing vary a lot. Well that differs from proffesor to proffesor actually. Some profs have world class research but teach very poorly . Some are really excellent at teaching and you won't feel like missing any classes. Leave apart the teaching .. academic oppurtunities to avail are too many. Your institute mail is flooded with mails from universities abroad inviting you for an exchange semester, internship oppurtunities and also various companies opening up avenues for the grads to work with them. Also start a new start up. Well oppurtunities are plenty. Just that you have to know the right way to avail them. And also the right ones to avail. Can't get everything. Finally coming to the CGPA. I'm still searching for the senior who told me that CGPA doesn't matter. It does to a great extent. Keep it above 8 or 8.5 and you are free to sail happily. I mean if you choose to be happy and not greedy for more. Students - Well . If my facebook friends are taken and placed on the maps according to their hometown the whole map would be traced. Also some would step overseas. The foreign exchange ones. Made so many new friends from the country, Got to know about various cultures. Their language. And yeah .The homefood they bring. Those people are friends forever. Placements - No comments. I'm in my third year. Affordable - Yes from my side. That was it I guess . Can talk about my second home a lot but prefer to end it here . Simply saying - " A paradise you've earned for 4 straight years " .!

Insti gave me good life, friends who will last for life. College has really good infrastructure, the amount we pay is no where justified for the facilities they provide us. Insti always say they encourage enthu people but they finally need people who either have lot of skill or influence(contacts). The two most famous things are said in Insti but shouldn't believe in them are: 1)Enthu is all you need 2) CG doesn't matter. In civil engineering we have pretty good and cool professors. Talking to them and making good relationship with them might help you in getting forward in your carrier. They are the most experienced people in that field after all.

IIT Madras gives you the opportunity to take a shot at a wide range of domains, which is not common. Each and every student can find something or the other which is interesting, and then also get access to resources which help in doing something worthwhile with this interest. The student body is simply amazing, one can find all kinds of (intelligent) people from everywhere, and there is a healthy sense of competition which is crucial for self-improvement. Faculty is strong and renowned and is considerate towards students' wants and needs. In addition, the campus has essential facilities available to carry out most kinds of trending research work. Graduates have a wide array of options to choose from, mainly under the categories of jobs, higher education, or self-ventures.The access to a powerful alumni network is something with puts IITM a step further. Personal life on campus will be truly memorable. Hostel life is insane in a positive sense with so much to do any time even though the hostels themselves are old-school style and not too fancy. It's also highly affordable compared to other universities. The only downside in my opinion is the lack of female students on campus, which is a barrier to overall social and personal development for male students. I'm currently in my final year of undergraduate studies, and am going to pursue graduate studies after graduating. I can proudly say that I was fortunate to experience all that IITM offered me. It's easily one of the best, if not the best engineering institute in India, and I would strongly recommend IIT Madras to any aspiring engineer.

I have joined the college in 2013. What to say about college, It's one of the best in country. In my childhood I have heard stories that in ancient times education is pursued in forests and it became my dream to get a education like that. My dream came true by joining IIT Madras, such a lovely campus. College provides many opportunities to reinvent yourself in not only in as well as co-curricular and extracurricular activities . The faculty and infrastructure provided to us is great. Faculty are always supporting and guiding us in our careers. The brand of college is enough to attract many international companies to come to our college for hiring the students. The hostel life is best life you can get. One thing to conclude my life would be incomplete if I didn't spend these four years here.
