As soon as you land in IIT Roorkee you will notice 2 things for sure one is Main building and other is Central library. Till now I have found the industry exposure is not so good but if some initiative is done by administration then it will definitely help the student. Late night studies and parties are the best things to enjoy in college. Placements can be better if more companies are allowed to enter in campus. Unlimited internet and good sanitation facilities are some provided by college hostel. Professors are good but interaction is less and they consider everyone intelligent so no elaboration is provided to any topic. Student crowd is best and life here is affordable as most of the facility is provided by government.

The college is god. There a lot of opportunities for the beginners in every field to learn and grow. The environment is healthy and pollution free. The green lush campus and the internet speed are some of the major attractions about iit roorkee.besides it what i feel is lack of exposure to industries and lack of transportation and entertainment facilities outside the campus

IIT Roorkee is known for its history and legacy. The campus is astonishing with James Thomson building (Main or Admin building) being a cherry top. Imagine living in a lush green environment with no pollution air. This is how living at this place is like. The college provides you with the best of sports facilities (Yes, the best. Believe me, I have been to other IITs for Inter-IIT.) and best of coaches. Recently, IITR just missed the Inter-IIT championship to IITK by merely half a point. Academics The place is IIT itself, so there shouldn't be any doubt on the quality of education this place provides. It has 21 academic departments covering engineering, applied sciences, humanities & social sciences, and management programmes, 3 academic centre, 1 centres of excellence, 4 academic service centres and 3 supporting units. Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, presented the Charter in November 1949 elevating the erstwhile college to the First Engineering University of Independent India, which lead to establishment of IITKGP. Not only this there are many co-curricular activity clubs for students. They are all supervised by a faculty adviser, who, at times might be a pain to deal with. But again it's about you skills and lets you learn how to tackle your annoying bosses in future. Most of the clubs are proactive and keep on organizing workshops and events for the student. One such club is the Cinema Club, which actively premiers recent Bollywood/Hollywood movies, thus solving your problems about theater. LAN I have seen may of my friends and mates posting about IITR providing the fastest LAN in all IITs. I don't know if its true or not, but a download speed or around 45 Mbps is sizzling fast. Also, all the hostels are now equipped with high speed LAN. Every place has its own pros and cons. Its your prospect how you deal with them. Me and all everyone I know at this campus is very proud to be a part of such a great Institute. In my personal opinion, there would be no regrets and you will have a great time if you get to get here. You will end up being a better human and having equally good friends.

A place which breathes history

It is situated in the small city of history. Being one of the oldest colleges in India, it is a very quaint and beautiful campus. It became an IIT only recently before which it was known as the University of Roorkee. Thus it still follows university culture to a large extent. More power should be given to the student affairs council. The campus is an open campus allowing local people inside. Though it is on the path of improvement still it has a long way to go before it can compete with the other older IITs.

Right now I m in the last semester of my BTech program. But let me tell you that as the days are passing i m fearing that how will i survive without the people I live with right now. The campus , the people , everything here is just so awesome. As far as this college is concerned its just best in everything whether Its campus, placements or study environment. There is a multi activity center which is especially made for Student' s leisure . Although people feel that roorkee being a small place may lack infrastructure but the campus is surrounded by superb restaurants which is so amzing in itself. IIT roorkee is not something i ll ever repent
