Vignan's Foundation for Science Technology and Research was founded in Andhra Pradesh in 1997 and was designated as a "deemed to be" university in 2008. It was set up by a group of eminent professionals and industrialists in 1985 with an objective to provide world-class education through its constituent institutions. The foundation has been providing quality higher education since 1987.

There are four campuses: Vignan Institute of Engineering and Technology, Vignan College of Arts & Science, Vignan College of Management Studies and VIGNAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY.

Jee mains scores are also considered for admission to Bachelor of Technology.
