ADJ Dharmambal Polytechnic College in Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu was established in 1979. It has trained technical talents for the world. This affiliated college offers the regular courses that the ‘Distance Education’ colleges do offer and is approved by the AICTE, New Delhi and is located on a 15 acres land. Spread over 435 acre the total intake capacity of the institute is 415 and has a faculty of 39. The college offers five diploma courses, all falling under a single degree course offering, but in distinct engineering specialities. 

The ADJ Dharmambal Polytechnic College has got many amenities that aimed at improving learning environment as well as the growth of students. The library which forms a vital part of academic material and aids for scholars possesses a rich stock of fifteen thousand three hundred and sixty-seven books in technical disciplines. It also retains membership in ten magazines and dailies, a status that makes current information in various disciplines accessible to students. For the female students the college provides hostel facility along with a Vegetarian Mess on dividing system. The campus has equipped with standard laboratories in order to provide practical experience to the students in their respective courses. Further, the college has developed outstanding facilities in information technology, an adequate facility for organising events and seminars, indoor and outdoor games, and a disability friendly cafeteria.

In all, the ADJ Dharmambal Polytechnic College has five full-time diploma courses all of which take a three-year cycle to complete. The institute has a total approved intake of 300 students in all its programmes as shown below. The courses offered include Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering; Diploma in Computer Engineering; Diploma in Instrumentation and Control Engineering; Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering- self financing; and Diploma Mechanical Engineering- self financing. These programmes are admitting 60 students each in total to maintain competitive student teacher ratio to ensure quality learning was imparted.

It has been identified that ADJ Dharmambal Polytechnic college mostly offers admission on the basis of merit, so that talented students are given every chance to complete their technical education from the institute. While specific exam dates are not provided. For the ease of the students regarding their employment after the college the college keeps a Training and Placement Cell.
