Akal College of Engineering and Technology Sirmour, a constituent college was established in the year 2007 at Baru Sahib Himachel Pradesh. Located in the Shillong, Meghalaya, this is one of the best women’s university in the country which teaches modern education while providing location in the picturesque foothills of the Himalayas. The college is sprawled over 450 Acres and aims at delivering quality technical education to its students. This institute has its core emphasis on engineering disciplines, especial Computer Science Engineering and has total of 4 courses offered at three levels of degrees of B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D. It is backed by 6 committed educators as a faculty strength to provide enough attention to the learners.

Housed in carefully selected modern facilities that facilitate the learning process the institute takes pride in its well equipped faciltites. Girls’ hostel, nine storied building is fully furnished building that can accommodate seven hundred and fifty six students, each and every room provided with Wi-Fi. The college library is learning resource centre which contains more than two hundred and fifty five thousand books, three hundred CDs/DVDs, and fifty four technical journals of national and international importance. It also offers access to NPTEL & MIT courseware enabling a richness of learning experience. In the sporting activities, the college boasts of fine outdoor sporting facilities within the compound and the hilly area in general; including one of the biggest playgrounds which is enclosed with flood lights for evening use. Akal College of Engineering and Technology has well-equipped departments, research laboratories, highly-developed gymnasium and newly established three hundred seats strong academic and cultural auditorium.

Out of the 4 courses offered at Akal College of Engineering and Technology, all courses taught are full-time courses. The B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering is the flagship course the takes 30 students while the M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering takes 5 students. The college also has open for 3 seats for the doctor of philosophy with specialisation in Computer Science and Engineering and also has for the B.Tech Lateral Entry for Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology for 6 students. Together the institute has 44 seat positions for each of the programmes offered for different levels of higher education specialising in computer science.

The intakes for the admission at Akal College of Engineering and Technology however differ from one programme to another. B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering admission criteria involve performance in JEE (Main), a reservation of 15% for general category students and 10% for the reserved category students minimum requirement. However, students can can apply through their HPCET scores and the marks needed are 20 for the general category and 15 for the reserved category. The admission process regarding M.Tech is done with GATE/HPCET score along with a minimum 20 % passing mark. For entrance into the Ph.D. programmes the college has its own Eternal University Entrance Examination. The institute is accepting scores from national level entrance examinations like JEE Main, GATE to state level examination like HPCET which insources quality students.
