24 MonthsThe discipline of Respiratory therapy has contributed substantially to the development of health care by nurturing specialists who can maintain the airway during management of trauma and intensive care. As envisioned, Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences is dedicated to develop such healthcare professionals who can make a difference in the delivery of high quality healthcare.
The M.Sc. in Respiratory Therapy (specialization in Adult & Pediatric) is a career oriented postgraduate programme for those students who have completed their under-graduation in respiratory care. Currently this unique programme is offered only in Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kerala state.
The programme includes compulsory modules in respiratory disease and research methodology as well as a number of optional modules including education, palliative care, global perspectives, non-pharmacological management and psycho-social factors of respiratory care.
The programme is appropriate for practitioners with a special interest in respiratory services and will enable them to provide high quality respiratory care. It will develop leaders in respiratory care, who will be able to influence change and also educate other health care providers to steer the respiratory care forward.
