School of Medical Education Kottayam was established in the year 1993. The Institute is a Co-ed and has been affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The Institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses to students who want to pursue in the fields of Pharmacy, Hospital Administration, Bio-Chemistry, Instrumentation Sciences, Nursing and others. courses include B.Sc.., B.Pharma., B.P.T., M.Sc., M.Pharma., M.P.T., M.P.H.., and M.H.A. Admission into these courses is given based on the rank released by the management according to merit for UG courses. Where G-PAT scores are considered for the M.Sc and M.Pharma. programmes. The merit acquired by the students in the qualifying examination is considered for other PG courses such as M.P.T., M.P.H., and M.H.A.

The college also offers its students placement opportunities from different levels of study. The institute also facilitates some of the basic amenities which include transport, a library, a medical centre, and many more which can be availed by the merit students.
