Badhiriya Teacher Training Institute is one situated in Kollam, Kerala, and is a stand-alone institution that prepares future teachers. This co-educational college was founded in the year 2004 and has been preparing teachers for almost two decades. Based on a small area of 1.5 acres of land, the institute facilitates an appropriate teaching environment for the aspiring teachers. Operating under the approval of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), we guarantee compliance with the national standards for our programmes at Badhiriya. Currently, the institute has 52 students and 4 faculty members, ensuring an individual concentration of learners with the right faculty-student ratio.

This is one of the institutes which can be proud of presenting a list of amenities for the students’ comprehensive successful development. The essence of these amenities is a rich library that has already collected over 10,150 books. It also has a reference section consisting of 270 books and 54 encyclopaedias and takes subscriptions to 37 educational journals and periodicals. It has a reading room with a seating capacity of one hundred and twenty-five students which compels research and study. 

Apart from academic facilities, Badhiriya also has facilities that help the students develop in all the other aspects. Among the infrastructures available are practical laboratories, health centres to provision for first aid facilities, sports facilities for exercise and gyms for those with a leaning towards intensive exercise. This institute also offers a canteen, an auditorium for occasions such as seminars and other events, and equipped computer systems to inform students about technological development in the field of education.

Badhiriya Teacher Training Institute offers two full-time courses, both spanning two years: The courses include Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). These programmes are purposely intended to prepare students for a profession in teaching by offering adequate information, skills, and experiences.  

Admission requirements at Badhiriya Teacher Training Institute primarily focus on merit as a way of bringing quality education. Admission process for both the B.ED and D.El.Ed courses is as follows: Merit based on the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination and/or entrance test. The institute also takes any other mode of selection as may be provided by the state government of Kerala or the Union Territory administration.
