It was founded in 1978 and ranks as one of the leading institutions in Barpeta, Assam. The college is located on a seven-acre campus, establishing the forefront of women's education for four decades. The college has a certificate from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), realising its potential endeavor toward quality education. At present, the institute comprises 399 enrollees and 23 faculty members.

The college offers the specialised B.Com programs in Human Resource Management and Cost Accounting.
