    About BLDEA's AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Vijayapura

    BLDEA’s AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, which was set up in 1955 and is one of the premier Ayurvedic colleges in Vijayapura, Karnataka. This affiliated college, recognised by the Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM), offers a number of Ayurvedic courses at its 15 acre campus. The institute currently has 299 students and 50 members of staff, giving the institute the right environment for the training of Ayurvedic doctors. The university is affiliated with RGUHS. The college teaches 6 programmes at 2 levels of degrees and focuses on different aspects of the Ayurvedic system of medicine. 

    The BLDEA’s AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya  significantly provides various infrastructures that act as a supplement to the learning process of the students. The centrally located library is well equipped with different books, journals and research papers on subjects of interest. Sophisticated laboratories are available as per departmental requirements to offer practical knowledge of expressing Ayurveda. The college also boasts of an auditorium that will be useful for events and seminars where intellectual discussion will take place. The cafeteria caters to students' needs, including meals, while the health centre provides first aid services for the students' health needs.

    In all, BLDEA’s AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya has a total of 6 programmes for students, and all are on a full-time basis. The institute’s first professional course is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) for 60 students with a five-year duration. The college provides five postgraduate specialised MD programmes with a total duration of 3 years each. They consist of the MD courses such as the Samhita and Siddhant, Rasa Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana, Dravyaguna, Kayachikitsa, and Shalya Tantra. 

    Consequently, the admission mechanism at BLDEA’s AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya is mainly the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), even for the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It guarantees that in the institute only the most qualified candidates are considered for admission.
