Anna University is a State University offering higher education in diverse fields of study. The university has an Online Cell - Centre for Distance and Online Education - to offer UGC-approved online degree programmes. Online degrees offered by the University are Online MBA General Management and Online MBA Business Analytics.

Admission to Anna University Online courses is done the Online Education Entrance Test (OEET) conducted by the university. Prospective candidates are required to meet the specific eligibility criteria for their chosen programmes. They should hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university. The duration of Anna University Online MBA courses is two years and the fee is Rs 1,00,000. These online courses come with more than 700 learning hours every semester. The programmes are delivered in the four quadrant approach - Quadrant I (e-Tutorial), Quadrant II (digital self-learning material), Quadrant III (discussion forum), abd Quadrant IV (Assessment).

Anna University follows an evaluation system to assess students’ performance for their online programmes. The evaluation system consists of Continuous or formative assessment and End-semester examination, with 30% weightage and 70% weightage, respectively. The exams are conducted in online mode by the Office of the Controller of Examinations (COE), Anna University. Students must have at least 75% attendance in all the activities of online programme before end semester examination as per UGC guidelines.
