College for Teacher Education, Paschim Medinipur was set up in 2012 and is a self-financed college based at Chandrakona Town, West Bengal. This men and women education institution has got recognition from the National Council for Teacher Education- NCTE to offer quality teacher education. Located on a mere 3,000 square meter piece of land, the college currently, offers education to 55 students, and has a staff strength of 11 members. The institute currently has only one programme of study, and this is the teacher education programme.

The College for Teacher Education ensures that its learning environment is effective for the students it is training. The campus has a library and all learning resources such as every-day textbooks and books from established authors are in plenty. The collection is replenished constantly so that students are able to use the most up-to-date educational resources. For designing and accommodation needs, the college has hosts for boys and girls respectively at fairly standardised rates. These hostels provide balanced environment to live and study, and provide veg as well as non veg food as desired by the students. The campus is secured electronically and has adequate security staff to ensure security of the residents at any one time.

The institute is currently offering only one course in full time which is the Diploma in Elementary Education popularly called as D.El.Ed having a total of 50 intake capacity. This programme is the elementary education programme, and it takes students two years to complete so they can become elementary teachers. The approach of the college to offer just a single course in a particular year enables a more intensive input on the training of teachers. Though information regarding graduates are still lacking, the quality education being offered by the college gives a positive implication to the schooling industry of the place.

College for Teacher Education, Paschim Medinipur has the Admission Procedure but they take students depending on the merit. Students are admitted in to the programme based on the scores obtained in the qualifying examination or an entrance test as prescribed by the state government or UT administration. This can help guarantee that only those that deserve as well as capable to embark on their dream of teaching get the chance to be teachers.
