The College of Horticulture and Forestry, Jhalawar, was set up in the year 2004 The campus is situated in Jhalarapatan, Rajasthan. This specialised institution only offers a few courses specifically in horticulture and forestry sciences to those students who have a natural interest in plant science and environmental conservation. The college is staffed by a faculty of 28 highly trained and committed members of staff towards the development of a conducive atmosphere for learning and skills acquisition. Currently this institution has 7 courses offered at 2 degree levels. These fields include Horticulture, Forestry and subfields under horticulture, including vegetable science fruit science, floriculture and landscaping.
In this college, student learning is supported and supplemented by a variety of multipurpose structures. For students’ housing the college has two hostels: a hostel for boys with 94 beds and a postgraduate hostel with the number of beds for 24 students.
The two hostels have provisions for mess and games and other forms of entertainment. People enjoying outdoor activities will be able to enjoy ample opportunities for football, volleyball, basketball, kabaddi, cricket, etc., and indoor games like table tennis, badminton, etc. It also arranges coaching camps for students for competition at national-level competitions.

There are two undergraduate programmes, which are B.Sc Horticulture (Hons) and B.Sc Forestry (Hons), of Four (4) years' tenure. At the postgraduate level, the college offers M.Sc. in Forestry and horticulture specialisations in vegetable science, fruit science, floriculture & landscaping and postharvest technology. All these courses are full-time programmes.
The mode of entry for joining the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Jhalawar, an affiliated college of Agriculture University, Kota, differs with the course level. To Admission Undergraduate programs B.Sc. Horticulture Hons and B.Sc. Forestry Hons, they offer admissions through the Joint Entrance Test (JET) held by the university. This is an examination that is very important to most students who wish to gain a place in these courses. Postgraduate courses require obtaining the university’s Pre-PG Test that is conducted for the admission’s purpose. Nonetheless, with regard to some programmes such as M.Sc. Forestry, most of the programmes are merit based and the vacancies are advertised at the national level. Undergraduate admission to the college considers the Joint Entrance Test (JET) scores as an admission criterion, which should be noted by students.
