College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pantnagar, was established in 1960 as one of the prestigious constituent colleges of G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology. This is a premier institution in the teaching of veterinary and animal sciences within the state of Uttarakhand, India. A faculty strength of 69, this institution boasts a wide range of offerings.
College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences boasts well-equipped laboratories, a modern library, advanced information technology infrastructure, and a health center fitted with the first-aid facilities for the care and concern of the students' general well-being. It is equipped with a gymnasium and sports facilities of various types for physical fitness. The flagship undergraduate programme is B.V.Sc Animal Husbandry, at the postgraduate level, the college offers different M.V.Sc. programmes such as Veterinary Anatomy, Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology. The merit cum entrance based admission to College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences is fairly competitive. Admission at the level of undergraduate programme in B.V.Sc. Animal Husbandry is normally made on the basis of performance in relevant entrance examinations. The admission procedure is a little different in Master's and Doctoral programmes. Candidates applying for M.V.Sc. have to appear in the Competitive University Entrance Examination conducted by G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar. Similarly, Ph.D. aspirants are selected based on their performance in the Competitive Entrance Examination conducted jointly by the university and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
